Morning Routine that Instils Motivation

Hal recommends snooze-proof steps that you should incorporate into your morning routine to create an extraordinary day.

  1. Before going to bed, consciously decide every night to actively and mindfully create a positive expectation for the next morning. You should remind yourself that you will wake up tomorrow feeling refreshed.
  2. Place your alarm clock far away from your bed as possible to force you to rise and engage your body in movement.
  3. Brush your teeth straight away. This will give you more freshness after waking up.
  4. Hydrate yourself as fast as you can comfortably manage. After 6-8 hours of sleep, we feel dehydrated which causes tiredness. Or you can fill it up the night before so it’s already there for you in the morning.
  5. Get dressed in your workout clothes. Morning exercise is crucial to maximizing your potential!

Miracle Morning Steps

Hal advises using the hour of time you created by implementing what he calls the Life S.A.V.E.R.S. S for Silence, A for Affirmations, V for Visualization, E for Exercise, R for Reading, and S for Scribing or Writing.

1. Silence

Silence is one of the best ways to immediately reduce stress while increasing your self-awareness and gaining the clarity that will allow you to maintain your focus on your goals, priorities, and what’s most important for your life, each and every day.

For most of us, our mornings are typically hectic. We feel sluggish and unproductive. Here’s a simple meditation Hal recommends to relax your mind and body (no particular order):

  1. Meditation
  2. Prayer
  3. Reflection
  4. Deep breathing
  5. Gratitude

2. Affirmations

Doing this every day allows you to design and then develop the mindset (thoughts, beliefs, focus) that you need to take any area of your life to the next level.

We’ve all been programmed—at the sub-conscious level—to think, believe, and act the way we do. Our programming is a result of many influences, including what we have been told by others, what we have told ourselves, and all of our life experiences—both good and bad.”

“Repeatedly telling yourself who you want to be, what you want to accomplish, and how you are going to accomplish it. With enough repetition, your subconscious mind will begin to believe what you tell it, act upon it, and eventually manifest it in your reality.”

5 simple steps to create your own affirmations:

  1. Write down your ideal future, in each area of life.
  2. Ask yourself why you want these things.
  3. Commit to being (who you need to be) and doing (what you need to do.
  4. After creating these positive affirmations, you should read them aloud to yourself daily.

3. Creative Visualization

The practice of seeking to generate positive results in your outer world by using your imagination to create mental pictures of specific behaviors and outcomes occurring in your life.

“The greatest gift we can give to the people we love is to live to our full potential. The point is you want to see yourself accomplishing what you set out to accomplish, and you want to experience how good it will feel to have followed through and achieved your goals.”

Visualization can help you obtain your ideal life is merely imagining yourself in that position. Suppose you want to become a famous book author. In that case, you should visualize yourself having your name at the New York #1 Bestsellers. You can even combine these visualizations with your affirmations by considering what you want and then visualizing having it.

4. Exercise

Exercise is vital for our health and the best time to do it is on mornings. This means you won’t have to worry about it for the rest of the day.

Morning exercise doesn’t have to be intense. You can do yoga for 20 minutes and it will still have a huge impact on your being. Hal provides an example of self-made multimillionaire entrepreneur Eben Pagan. He said that Pagan described his exercise as a “personal success ritual” which is one of the keys to his success.

Consider the following exercises that you can do at home:

  • Push-ups
  • Squats
  • Jumping jacks
  • Leg Raises 
  • Mountain Climbers
  • Wall sit
  • Lunge

5. Reading

We become the books we read. Hal recommends reading books on personal development that can help you gain insights from people who are already successful. Don’t spend this time reading fiction, read something that is going to benefit you more in the long run. Reading at least 20 minutes or a minimum of 10 pages a day will have a huge impact.

6. Scribing/Writing

Another important element of your Miracle Morning is writing. It enables you to document your insights, ideas, breakthroughs, realizations, successes, and lessons learned, as well as any areas of opportunity, personal growth, or improvement. You can write just for five or ten minutes each morning.

Personally, Hal divides his page into two columns: Lessons Learned (to allow him to learn from his mistakes) and New Commitments. (commit to new life changes). He would fill each of these every day.

You can write:

  • 3 things you’re grateful for
  • 3 things that would make today a great day
  • 1 affirmation 

Customize Your Miracle Morning

Hal suggests doing each of these habits for 10 minutes, for a total of a one-hour routine. But he also recommends customizing your morning to suit your own needs. For example, you may want to spend more time in journaling or exercising.

You can experiment with what works best for you, you can do different activities for different lengths of time, and as long as you include each of the habits. 

Additionally, some people may not have a typical morning routine. Hal also travels a lot but he ensures he engages with his routines. Hence, he makes sure he has a book, a journal with him. Equally, shift workers might not wake up in the morning. You can still be able to create everything you want in order to live your best life. 

Find an Accountability Partner and Commit to Challenges

It’s hard to improve your mental and physical well being each morning alone. That’s why Hal suggests you find an accountability partner who can check you each day or do activities with yo. We are more likely to adhere to if our behaviors are tied to somebody else. This person doesn’t have to be your bestfriend. Instead, they might even be a person you have found through an online community. 

The 30-Day Miracle Morning Transformation Challenge

According to studies, it takes approximately 30 days to form a habit. Therefore, Hal recommends trying the miracle morning for 30 days. If you can adhere for 30 days you will find it easy to maintain these self-improvement practices. 

A lot of people reported having improving their careers, achieving their goals, and losing weight. Some have even reported looking forward to waking up every morning.
